ANKARA - The 52nd meeting of Turkey-the European Union (EU) Joint Parliamentary Commission will be held in western province of Izmir between April 6 and 7, 2004.
Releasing a statement on Sunday, the Turkish parliament said that the sides would exchange views about recent developments affecting the relations between Turkey and the EU during the meeting to be president by co-presidents Prof. Dr. Aydin Dumanoglu and Joost Lagendijk.
It will be the last meeting between Turkish officials and current European Parliament (EP) members before the upcoming EP elections.
The meeting will start with opening remarks by Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc and Justice Minister Cemil Cicek.
Meanwhile, Dumanoglu said that issues such as approaches and views about Turkey's EU membership, preparatory works of the EU Commission for Turkey Progress Report for 2004, Turkey's expectations about financial co-operation, Communication Strategy to inform both Turkish and EU public opinions, reform process in Turkey and progress made in efforts to find a solution to the Cyprus issue would be discussed at the meeting.
