ANKARA - Security forces detained 63 people in simultaneous operations in five countries against terrorist DHKP-C organization, Security Department Deputy Director and Spokesman Ramazan Er said on Friday.
Speaking at weekly news briefing in Security Department, Er said 40 of the terrorists were captured inside the country and 23 of them were captured outside the country.
Er said police continued to fight against terrorist organizations without making any discrimination.
Noting that simultaneous operations were launched in five countries against terrorist DHKP-C organization, Er said that, ''we have been in contact with German, Italian, Dutch, and Belgian police in conformity with security cooperation agreement in the past one year. We had evaluation meetings with those countries. Security forces captured 40 DHKP-C terrorists within the country and 23 others were captured outside the country so far. Belgian authorities said Fehriye Erdal is under custody. Necessary statements will be made soon regarding developments.''
Fehriye Erdal, a member of terrorist DHKP-C, is one of the suspects of killing of businessman Ozdemir Sabanci in 1996.
