BERLIN - Turkish State Minister Mehmet Aydin met with the German Social Democratic Party (SPD) leader Franz Muentefering in German capital Berlin on Thursday.
Following their meeting, Aydin told reporters that he and Muentefering discussed Turkish-German relations, Turkey's European Union (EU) membership and situation of Turkish people living in Germany.
Aydin said that they especially focused on cultural issues when discussing Turks living in Germany.
''Although they have been living in Germany for 40 years, nobody knows much about Turks in Germany. We were asked to better reflect modern and civilized Turkish culture in Germany. Many Germans don't know Turkish culture. However, many developments have been recorded in democracy. All these should be explained,'' Aydin added.
Aydin is expected to meet with German Interior Minister Otto Schily and Wolfgang Thierse, the President of the German Bundestag later in the day.
