LEFKOSA - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat said on Wednesday that the United Nations (U.N.) could ask for signature for putting the plan to referendum with its final shape, not for the plan during Cyprus talks continuing in Switzerland.
Talat who chairs TRNC delegation in Cyprus talks in Swiss resort of Buergenstock told the Turkish Agency-Cyprus (TAK) that they did not expect any change to the final plan within the scope of proposals which were taken from sides on Tuesday and added that there could be some small changes for correcting mistakes.
Replying to a question, he said that U.N. could ask sides signature for putting the final plan to referendum, not for the plan. He noted that this issue was not definite yet.
TRNC and Greek Cypriot side started Cyprus negotiations in the island on February 19 in order to find a fair and lasting solution to Cyprus issue till May 1 on the basis of Annan plan. Cyprus talks have been continuing in Switzerland for 10 days.
U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan gave its recent shape to the solution plan and submitted it to sides on Monday. He received proposals of sides on Tuesday.
Annan is expected to submit final shape of his Cyprus plan to delegations of Turkish Cypriot side, Greek Cypriot side, Turkey and Greece on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, TRNC delegation headed by Talat will leave Switzerland for TRNC on Thursday morning after the summit ends on Wednesday evening.
