Turkish Economy Grows By 7.2 Percent In Fourth Quarter Of 2003

ANKARA - Gross National Product (GNP) of Turkey increased 5.9 percent in 2003, State Institute of Statistics (SIS) announced on Wednesday. The growth rate of Turkey has become 7.2 percent in the fourth quarter of 2003.
SIS stated that the rate of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Turkey in 2003 was 5.8 percent, while it has become 6.1 percent for the fourth quarter of 2003.
According to an official statement made by SIS, GNP figure for 2003 is 356 quadrillion 680 trillion 888 billion Turkish Liras (TL) and for the fourth quarter of 2003 is 97 quadrillion 176 trillion 897 billion TL in current prices, while GNP figure in real terms is 30 trillion 992 billion TL in the fourth quarter of 2003.
The current growth rate was 18.3 percent in the last quarter of 2003 and the current growth rate in 2003 has become 29.7 percent.
