Erdogan: We Are Obliged To Have A Two-party Parliament In Turkey

ANKARA - Turkey is obliged to have a two-party parliament, AK Party leader and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Monday on private tv channel Kanal 7.
Erdogan who evaluated the local election results, said that they should not feel relaxed and enjoy themselves just because they increased their votes. ''We have to check ourselves to see why we have lost in some places,'' he said.
Noting that 3 November general elections buried into history the old and outdated politics, and people gave a signal to the parties at today's local elections, Erdogan said, ''the parties who have to understand this signal will make an evaluation at the results of the elections.''
Replying to a question if today's election showed a restructuring in the left, Erdogan said there was a tendency in the world towards two-party parliaments. ''We are obliged to have a two-party parliament in Turkey.''
Erdogan added that they rebuilt the center of politics as AK Party in two party period. ''We have always refrained from exorbitance. ''We target to gather the right and left parties that are close to center under the roof of our party,'' said Erdogan, adding that they have been taken their steps for the future with this target.
Replying to a question if more power may change AK Party, Erdogan said, ''on the contrary, this increases our responsibility.''
Erdogan said he did not say anything about a cabinet reshuffle.
Out of 81 cities, AK Party won at least 55 mayoral races, including those in Turkey's largest city, Istanbul, and the capital, Ankara, according to unofficial results early Monday.
