F.M. Denktas: Prime Ministers' Arrival In Switzerland Will Create A Psychological Effect

BUERGENSTOCK - Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Denktas of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has said that Turkish and Greek prime ministers' arrival in Buergenstock town of Switzerland to attend the four-party Cyprus talks would create a psychological effect, adding, ''when the latest draft of plan of the United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan is submitted to the sides, it will be quite difficult to make too many changes in it.''
Holding a press conference at the Furigen Hotel, Denktas said on Sunday, ''participation of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Greek Prime Minister Costas Caramanlis in the negotiation process will create a psychological effect on the sides.''
''I believe that when the latest draft of plan of the United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan is submitted to the sides, it will be quite difficult to make too many changes in it,'' he said.
Denktas told reporters, ''I have a feeling that the latest draft of the Annan Plan, which is expected to be submitted to the sides tonight or tomorrow morning the latest, can include both good and bad surprises for both sides. We have been waiting for the draft in a maelstrom.''
Meanwhile, Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul telephoned British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw to discuss the Cyprus issue.
During the telephone conversation, Straw said that he would do everything in his power about the judicial protection on which the Turkish side was sensitive.
Meanwhile, the sides had met under the format of four-party talks at the suite of United Nations Secretary General Annan.

ANNAN TO SUBMIT DRAFT PLAN TO SIDES AT 12.00 LOCAL TIME ON MONDAY
U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan will submit draft plan on Cyprus to sides at 12.00 local time on Monday.
Sources said that sides were invited to take the draft plan which would be submitted to them on Monday. Eight people from each delegation were asked to be present during the submission of the draft plan.
Meanwhile, sources said that sides' meeting on Sunday evening with Annan was held in a positive atmosphere and stated that Secretary General delivered a speech encouraging sides in the meeting.
Sources added that Turkish side explained its expectations to Annan once again at this meeting.
