BRUSSELS - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan left on Friday Belgium for Turkey.
After attending a working session held as a part of the Spring European Council, Erdogan departed from Belgian capital Brussels.
Erdogan met with French President Jacques Chirac, European Union (EU) Commissioner for enlargement Guenter Verheugen and EU foreign policy and defense chief Javier Solana in Brussels.
Erdogan held a press conference earlier in the day in which he said that Turkey was doing its best to solve Cyprus issue.
Turkey-EU relations, Cyprus issue, terrorism, Afghanistan and Kosovo were the issues Erdogan discussed in his meetings.
Meanwhile, Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul, who accompanied Erdogan during his meetings in Brussels, left Belgium for Switzerland to join quartet Cyprus conference. Delegations from TRNC, Turkey, Greek Cypriot side, and Greece are in Buergenstock, Switzerland to hold quartet Cyprus conference in order to find a fair and lasting solution to Cyprus issue. According to Cyprus negotiations road map, two sides were expected to attend a quartet conference together with guarantor powers Turkey and Greece after March 22 to discuss issues on which they could not reach any compromise.
