BUERGENSTOCK - Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul left Buergenstock, Switzerland, for Brussels on Thursday to attend the European Union (EU) spring-term meeting.
Gul and the accompanying delegation has been in Buergenstock to attend the four-party conference under the negotiation process to find a fair and lasting solution to the Cyprus issue.
Besides Gul, Foreign Minister Petros Moliviatis of Greece and Greek Cypriot leader Tassos Papadopoulos are expected to proceed to Brussels.
DENKTAS: FOUR-PARTY TALKS WILL START AFTER EU SUMMIT IN BRUSSELS
Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Denktas of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has said that the four-party Cyprus talks would start after the European Union (EU) spring-term summit in Brussels.
Denktas met with journalists at the Furigen Hotel in Buergenstock town of Switzerland on Thursday.
Noting that a consensus of opinion was reached to start the four-party talks on Friday night after the EU spring-term summit, Denktas said, ''we will meet with U.S. and British diplomats today and tomorrow. We will also hold talks with Greek Cypriot political leaders in Buergenstock.''
Pointing out that the four-party talks could not start yesterday because of Greek Cypriot leader Tassos Papadopoulos' discussions over authority of the TRNC delegation, Denktas said, ''we do not discuss Papadopoulos' attitude since the TRNC delegation has already been authorized by both the TRNC constitution and the document of authority given by President Rauf Denktas.''
Denktas added that they had done nothing, but wasted time in Buergenstock so far.
