Turkish ruling party gets 46.4 percent of votes

ANKARA - Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) garnered 46.4 percent of the vote in Sunday's snap polls to win a second term, according to unofficial final results.
The tally, carried by the Anatolia news agency after all votes were counted on Monday, will give Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan 340 of the 550 seats in the single chamber parliament.
The main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) is second with 20.8 percent of the vote and 112 seats, and the right-wing Nationalist Action Party (MHP) is third with 14.2 percent 71 seats, it said.
No other party passed the 10-percent national threshold to enter parliament, but independent candidates, mostly members of the pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party (DTP), garnered 5.2 percent of the vote to get 27 seats, it said.
Voter turnout was 84.1 percent, Anatolia added.
