Yakis Meets With Adzharia President Abashidze

TBILISI - Turkish Parliamentary European Union (EU) Adjustment Commission Chairman Yasar Yakis met on Sunday with Adzharia Autonomous Republic's President Aslan Abashidze.
Yakis said after the meeting that Sarp border gate was not closed during the tension between central government and Adzharia administration last week.
Noting that Turkey attributed importance for keeping Sarp border gate open for its own policies and he conveyed this to Abashidze, Yakis said that however Turkish trucks which passed from the border gate were warned against difficulties due to sanctions.
Yakis said that they were pleased that tension left its place to consensus and added that they discussed how they could contribute in confidence milieu between sides.
Yakis and accompanying delegation left for Turkey after completing their meetings.
