ANKARA/ISTANBUL - Nevruz, a day symbolizing the beginning of spring, was marked in a ceremony held by the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry in capital Ankara on Sunday.
Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry Undersecretary Mustafa Isen and Azerbaijan Culture Minister and Turkish Culture and Arts Joint Administration Chairman Polad Bulbuloglu burnt Nevruz fire in front of Ataturk Culture Center in Ankara. Some young people jumped over the fire as a Nevruz tradition.
Folklore teams performed their shows in the ceremony.
Meanwhile, Istanbul Governor Muammer Guler attended the celebrations held in Sultanahmet Square of Istanbul to mark Nevruz.
Guler also jumped over the Nevruz fire and danced together with other people marking the Nevruz.
