Bush calls for Mideast peace conference

WASHINGTON - US President George W. Bush on Monday called for an international conference grouping Israel, the Palestinian Authority, and some Arab neighbors to revive Middle East peace talks.
"The world can do more to build the conditions for peace, so I will call together an international meeting this fall," Bush said in a speech, adding that US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will chair the meeting.
"The key participants in this meeting will be the Israelis, the Palestinians, and their neighbors in the region," he said.
He stressed that all participants had to support the creation of a Palestinian state, reject violence, recognize Israel, and commit to all past Israeli-Palestinian agreements.
