SAKARYA - "We have not heard from my husband for the past 25 days," said Birsen Eryilmaz, the wife of Turkish businessman Mehmet Eryilmaz who is believed to have been arrested by military authorities in north of Iraq.
Speaking to the AA on Sunday, Birsen Eryilmaz indicated that her husband Mehmet and another businessman Nihat Atalar went to north of Iraq to sign a business contract.
"A person named 'Ayad' caused the arrest of Eryilmaz and Atalar. Ayad demanded that we should pay him 150,000 USD," noted Birsen Eryilmaz.
Mehmet Eryilmaz's most recent telephone call to his wife Birsen came on June 19th when he informed Birsen about his arrest. No one heard from Mehmet Eryilmaz and Nihat Atalar since then.
