Turkey To Annul Free Trade Agreements With Three Countries

ANKARA - Turkey will annul free trade agreements with Hungary, Poland and Slovakia since these countries are scheduled to become full members of the European Union (EU) as of May 1, 2004.
The exchange of notes between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Hungarian, Polish and Slovakian foreign affairs authorities about annulment of the agreements was published in Thursday's Official Gazette.
Under the Customs Union agreement signed with the EU, customs taxes and funds will be lifted mutually between Turkey and these three countries.
Turkey signed a free trade agreement with Hungary on January 8, 1997, with Poland in 1999, and with Czechoslovakia on August 29, 1975.
