Turkey Raises $556 Million Income Through Exports Of Hazelnuts

TRABZON - Turkey exported 150 thousand 959 tons of hazelnuts and obtained an income of 556 million 172 thousand 555 U.S. dollars in the 28th week of the hazelnut export season which started on September 1, 2003.
Black Sea Hazelnut and Products Exporters' Association told the A.A correspondent on Wednesday that Turkey was exporting hazelnuts to 80 countries.
They said that Turkey exported 120 thousand 755 tons of hazelnuts to the European Union (EU) countries, 16 thousand 685 tons of hazelnuts to other European countries, 8 thousand 605 tons of hazelnuts to overseas countries and 4 thousand 914 tons of hazelnuts to other countries.
In the same period of the last export season, Turkey had exported 194 thousand 474 tons of hazelnuts and obtained an income of 441 million 734 thousand 435 U.S. dollars.
