ISTANBUL - State Minister Ali Babacan met on Monday with high-level administrators of multi-national companies who are attending the meeting of Investment Consultative Council in Istanbul.
World Bank President James Wolfensohn and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Europe Department Director Michael Deppler also participated at the breakfast meeting in which Babacan made a presentation on Turkish economy and investment environment.
Besides Treasury Undersecretary Ibrahim Canakci, Ford Motor Company Europe Director Lewis Booth, Citigroup Global Investment Banking Group CEO Michael Klein, Newmont Mining Group Director Pierre Lassonde, Metro AG CEO Hans-Joachim Korber, Siemens AG Executive Board member Johannes Feldmayer, Lafarge Executive Board Chairman and CEO Bertrand Collom, BNP Paribas Executive Board Chairman's adviser Jacques de Larosiere, Arcelor Deputy Chairman Paul Matthys, Hyundai CEO Dong-Jin Kim, Nunza B.V. Executive Board Chairman Peter Van Kesteren, Unilever NV K. Africa, Middle East and Turkey Director Rachid Rachid, Rio Tinto Plc CEO Leigh Clifford, ISCAR Executive Board Chairman Stef Wertheimer, Nestle Deputy Chairman Michael Garret, Merloni CEO Andrea Guerra, Fiat SpA CEO Guiseppe Morchio, Pirelli SPA Chairman Marco Tronchetti Provera, Toyota Europe Director and CEO Shuhei Toyoda, Nortel Networks Corp. Europe, Middle East and Africa Director Steve Pusey joined the meeting.
Meanwhile, Mitsui Co. Ltd. Europe President Norio Shoji, who could not attend the meeting due to his sickness, sent a note to the meeting in which he apologized for not joining the Meeting of Investment Consultative Council.
Shoji added that he wanted to be included in similar meetings to be held in the future.
