ANKARA - Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Volodimir Litvin said on Friday they were determined to cooperate at the level of international organizations and lead these organizations to take beneficial decisions about their countries.
Arinc and Litvin held a joint news conference following their meetings.
Arinc said there was no visit from Ukraine to Turkey in the level of Parliament Speaker since 1992, stating that visit of Litvin proved that parliamentary relations between Turkey and Ukraine would improve and gain momentum.
Stating that there were friendship groups in parliaments of the two countries, Arinc said relations between the governments of the two countries increased to higher levels.
Arinc said Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan would visit this country in the coming days, stating that Turkey announced Ukraine as a country having priority to increase bilateral commercial relations.
Arinc said they agreed on reciprocal visits of the commissions and friendship groups, stressing that he would also visit Ukraine.
Guest Parliament Speaker Litvin in his part said good will and mutual understanding prevailed the talks, and noted that they agreed to increase cooperation in the level of parliaments. He said this would be for the interests of the two countries.
Litvin said developments experienced in Europe and the whole world also required this, noting that in case efforts of Ukraine and Turkey were in coordination, the two countries could positively affect the developments in the region.
Litvin said they also discussed the role that should be undertaken by the parliaments while improving cooperation. He said they decided to double the trade volume between the two countries this year.
Litvin said he and Arinc decided not to wait for another 12 years for a new visit.
