Antalya To Host First Meeting Of Comcec Negotiating Committee

ANKARA - The first meeting of Negotiating Committee of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) will be held in southern province of Antalya between April 6 and 9, 2004.
Sources told A.A correspondent on Sunday that one of the most important projects on agenda of the COMCEC was increase in preferential trade among the member countries to the OIC.
The frame agreement envisaging establishment of Preferential Trade System among Islamic Countries took effect last year.
During the 19th meeting of the COMCEC, a decision was made on start of the commercial negotiations in line with the frame agreement.
The first meeting of the Commercial Negotiating Committee will be held in Antalya.
Negotiations will focus on removal of obstacles in commercial relations among Islamic countries and causing commercial regimes to become closer.
In accordance with the agreement, a comprehensive trade system is envisaged to be established among Islamic countries at the end of a series of negotiations.
Representatives of Bangladesh, Guinea, Iran, Cameroon, Libya, Lebanon, Egypt, Pakistan, Senegal, Tunisia, Uganda and Jordan are expected to attend the meeting of the Commercial Negotiating Committee.
