BERLIN - Culture and Tourism Minister Erkan Mumcu has said, ''we should concentrate on making investments and diversifying services in tourism sector instead of marketing and communication.''
Mumcu, who is currently in German capital Berlin to attend International Tourism Stock Exchange Fair, partook in a breakfast on Saturday hosted by the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TURSAB).
Speaking at the breakfast, Mumcu said, ''Germany is an important market affecting the whole Europe. Also, International Tourism Stock Exchange Fair has a symbolic meaning for Turkey. We consider the fair as the beginning of holiday season.''
Stressing that Turkey had been developing more rapidly than Germany in tourism sector, Mumcu said, ''we expect the growth rate in tourism sector, which is currently eleven percent, to increase to twenty percent. The most important thing is to sustain this growth.''
