ANKARA - Istanbul will host a meeting of the Turkish Investment Consultative Council at the Ciragan Palace Hotel Kempinski on March 15, 2004.
Sources told the A.A correspondent on Saturday that the meeting was jointly organized by the Union of Turkish Chambers of Commodity Exchanges (TOBB), the Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (TUSIAD), the Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TIM) and the Foreign Investment Association (YASED) under the coordination of State Minister Ali Babacan.
World Bank President James Wolfensohn, International Monetary Fund (IMF) First Deputy Managing Director Anne Krueger and representatives of international economy and finance organizations will be among participants of the meeting.
CEOs of nearly 20 multinational companies including Fiat, Ford, Siemens, Tesco, Unilever, Lafarge, Nestle, Renault, Hyundai, Pirelli, Nortel, Networks, Arcelor, Citi Group, Metro, Bnp Paribas and Iscar will attend the meeting.
During the meeting, government officials and representatives of Turkish private sector will give information on developments in investing environment in Turkey.
The target of the meeting to listen to foreign investors' expectations from Turkey and to determine necessary additional measures to be taken to increase foreign investments in Turkey.
At the meeting, government officials will underline that there had been an economically and politically stable and dynamic market in Turkey.
Noting that besides the People's Republic of China, Turkey had taken its place among the most rapidly developing countries of the world, government officials will stress that Turkey topped the list of member countries to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in regard to economic growth performance.
They will also give information on units which were set up under the reform program about the Direct Foreign Investments Law and improvement of investing environment, and about efforts to establish the Investment Promotion Agency.
