WASHINGTON D.C. - Deputy Chief of General Staff General Ilker Basbug who will pay a visit to the United States as the guest of Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Peter Pace at the weekend, will meet with high ranking U.S. officials in Washington D.C. next week.
After visiting military facilities in various parts of the U.S. for few days, General Basbug will proceed to Washington D.C. next Tuesday. General Basbug is expected to meet with U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage and U.S. President's Deputy National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley.
In his contacts with American officials, General Basbug is expected to take up basic issues that concern Turkey and the U.S. including Iraq and Cyprus issues and defense industry issues.
Basbug is expected to return to Turkey next Friday.
