Turkey And Syria Will Sign A Free Trade Agreement In April

GAZIANTEP - Turkish Consul General in Aleppo Hulusi Kilic has said that Turkey and Syria would sign a free trade agreement in Ankara in April of 2004.
Kilic paid a visit to Gaziantep Young Businessmen's Association (GAPGIAD) on Thursday.
Speaking at the visit, Kilic said, ''as you know, State Minister Kursad Tuzmen paid a visit to Syria last week together with a delegation of 250 Turkish businessmen. This visit has created a positive atmosphere in bilateral relations between Turkey and Syria. Syrian press and businessmen were highly interested in the visit. During the visit, the sides have reached a consensus to sign the Free Trade Agreement in Ankara between April 26 and 27.''
Stressing that Gaziantep and Aleppo were the cities which would make the greatest contribution to further improvement of economic relations between Turkey and Syria, Kilic said, ''friendly and commercial relations have been further improving between the two countries day by day. I believe that this development in bilateral relations between Turkey and Syria will lead Turkish and Syrian businessmen to make joint investments in the near future.''
