Give-and-take Process To Start In Cyprus Negotiations

LEFKOSA - Delegations headed by Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Rauf Denktas and Greek Cypriot leader Tassos Papadopoulos will start give-and-take process in Cyprus negotiations.
The sides started Cyprus negotiations in Lefkosa on February 19 to find a fair and lasting solution to Cyprus issue till May 1 on the basis of United Nations (U.N.) Secretary General Kofi Annan's plan.
The method to be followed in give-and-take process is not clear yet. Sides are expected to decide about the method on Friday the latest after consultations with U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan's Special Envoy to Cyprus Alvaro De Soto.
Meanwhile, the sides continue their preparations for give-and-take process, benefiting from one-day interruption in Cyprus negotiations.
TRNC Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat and Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Denktas are holding meetings at the Foreign Ministry in Ankara as a part of deliberations on the give-and-take process.
Alvaro de Soto is in Athens to discuss the recent stage of negotiations with the new Greek government formed by New Democracy Party leader Costas Caramanlis after Sunday's parliamentary elections.
In the meantime, Greek Cypriot leader Papadopoulos will go to Athens on Friday to hold meetings with the Greek government.
