ANKARA - Secretary of Foreign Affairs Delia Domingo-Albert of the Philippines said on Thursday that there was significant potential to further improve economic and political relations between Turkey and the Philippines.
Albert, who is paying an official visit to Turkey, and Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul held a joint press conference following their tete-a-tete meeting and meetings between delegations of two countries.
Filipino Secretary of Foreign Affairs Albert firstly condemned the terrorist attacks in Spanish capital Madrid.
Celebrating the International Women's Day of woman journalists who were covering her and Gul's press conference, Albert said that the 22-member cabinet in her country had nine woman ministers and the President of the Philippines was also a woman.
Her meetings in Ankara were fruitful and friendly, Albert noted.
Albert said that two countries had similar experiences since they were the transit point of the East and the West despite the geographical distance between them.
Thanking Turkey for its support to the temporary membership of the Philippines in the United Nations (U.N.) Security Council, Albert said that there was significant potential to further improve economic and political relations.
