ANKARA - Turkish-Palestinian Interparliamentary Friendship Group Chairman Huseyin Tanriverdi said on Thursday the attack on the Masonic lodge in Kartal district of Istanbul once again proved that dimension of the clash in Palestine-Iraq line was not limited only with that geography.
Speaking at a news conference, Tanriverdi said, ''sorrowful incidents continue in Palestine. Everybody who wants to prevent humanity from bloodshed and tears should resist against it. This bloodshed should stop from now on. Palestine and Israel should start peace talks soon.''
Calling on Israeli and Palestinian officials to do their best to make peace prevail in the region, Tanriverdi said Palestinian President Yasser Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon should walk on the road map prepared by United Nations, the United States, European Union and Russia.
Tanriverdi said this road map could constitute a reference for peace, stressing that, ''Turkey, which is an element of power and balance in the region with its historic and cultural mission, should play an active role in peace process.''
Tanriverdi said Turkish-Palestinian Interparliamentary Group would visit Palestine in April.
