LEFKOSA - Several women institutions in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Southern Cyprus held joint activities on Wednesday within the scope of March 8 World Women's Day.
''Women Solidarity Group for Peace'' from TRNC carried balloons writing ''peace'' on them, while Greek Cypriot women carried placards writing, ''Peace-Reunification-Equality''.
The women launched white doves of peace into the air.
The women met in Ledra Palas Border Gate and gave a letter to woman official of the U.N. Peace Forces to be conveyed to U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan.
Turkish and Greek Cypriot women, in the letter they sent to Annan, stated that they would continue to work for reunification of the island and to prevail sustainable peace.
The women said they desired to carry United Cyprus to European Union as two equal founding partners on May 1 and noted that they would continue to struggle courageously and with determination to set up a nice future for children.
