ANKARA - Ron Neumann, the American foreign relations director of Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) in Iraq said on Wednesday that the future of economic cooperation between Turkey and Iraq was promising.
Neumann who came to Ankara on Tuesday with the initiative of U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell to give information about the content of the interim constitution in Iraq and to exchange views about economic issues, met with Foreign Ministry Deputy Undersecretary Alev Kilic and the accompanying delegation for three hours.
Speaking after the meeting, Neumann said that they took up mainly commercial and economic issues in the first day talks and that they would have more technical meetings in those issues in the afternoon.
Neumann stated that they determined the fields in which sound cooperation could be made between Turkey and Iraq, reminding that he was accompanied by his Iraqi colleagues. He added that they wanted this cooperation to continue after Iraq became a fully sovereign state.
