ANKARA - International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation headed by Reza Moghadam visited on Tuesday Rifat Hisarciklioglu, the Chairman of Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB).
Following the meeting, Hisarciklioglu told reporters that he had expressed his views about Turkish economy in 2004 in their meeting.
Hisarciklioglu said that they expected 4 percent rise in natural gas to achieve primary surplus and budgetary targets.
IMF delegation came to Turkey on February 26 for the seventh review with Turkey.
Delegation headed by Moghadam met with directors of some companies, namely Istanbul Stock Exchange (IMKB), Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (TUSIAD), Foreign Capital Association (YASED) and Savings and Deposit Insurance Fund (SDIF) in Istanbul between February 27 and 29.
The IMF delegation started meetings in Ankara on March 1. Moghadam and accompanying delegation met with State Minister Ali Babacan, Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan and Treasury bureaucrats.
Last week, the delegation focused on issues like strengthening public finance in the long term, strengthening budget management and tax collection, reducing finance deficit in social security system, increasing efficiency and independence of Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA) and Savings and Deposit Insurance Fund (SDIF).
Meanwhile, IMF delegation is expected to depart from Turkey on March 12 as earlier planned.
