ANKARA - Joseph Pennington, the spokesman of the U.S. Embassy in Ankara, stated on Tuesday that the United States was committed to its promise to fight against the terrorist organization.
Pennington, who made a statement to A.A correspondent upon news that ''the United States would not fight against the terrorist organization PKK'', recalled commitments of U.S. President George Bush and underlined that the fight against the terrorist organization would continue.
Western sources pointed out that number of U.S. soldiers in the north of Iraq decreased while there was serious threat against security.
The same sources stated that cooperation would continue, but it was not possible to give promise about how the fight would continue when the changing conditions of the region was taken into consideration.
The sources said that they were committed to their liabilities and they would priorly evaluate changing parameters in the region.
The same sources stated that fight would continue against the terrorist organization whatever the name of the terrorist organization would be.
Turkish and U.S. officials thought the same about presence of Turkish soldiers in the region, the sources said.
The sources noted that Turkish soldiers would withdraw from the region after the region was purified from the terrorist organization.
Meanwhile, sources said that Ron Newmann, the foreign affairs official of the U.S. administration in Iraq, would hold meetings in Ankara on Wednesday.
