KUSADASI - "Blue Flag" award ceremony was held in Kusadasi resort town in western city of Aydin after Blue Flag International Jury in Danish capital of Copenhagen --under the coordination of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE)-- deemed 235 beaches and 14 marinas of Turkey worthy to get "Blue Flag" award.
Ali Rendam, executive board chairman of Turkish Environment Education Foundation (TURCEV), said that only 2,579 beaches and 631 marinas were given "Blue Flag" awards in the world.
"Turkey obtains the fourth place for 2007 with the number of blue flags after Spain (499 blue flags), Greece (430) and France (238)," Rendam noted.
