LEFKOSA - Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot delegations convened on Tuesday in the twelfth session of the negotiation process, which started on February 19 to find a fair and lasting solution to the Cyprus issue till May 1 on the basis of the plan of United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan.
The delegations headed by President Rauf Denktas of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Greek Cypriot leader Tassos Papadopoulos convened at the Conference Center in Lefkosa's buffer zone.
President Denktas did not make any statement prior to the meeting.
During today's meeting, the Turkish side is expected to give its response to the Greek Cypriot side's proposal about security. The Greek Cypriot side rejects stay of the population, which came from Turkey after 1974, due to ''security'' reasons.
The sides will present the changes they wanted to be made in the plan of United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan, during today's meeting for the last time.
Also, the sides are expected to set a date for referendum.
According to the Annan Plan, the referendum is envisaged to be held on April 21. However, the Greek Cypriot side wants the referendum to be held on April 20 since April 21, the anniversary of the military coup in Greece, is an official holiday in the Greek Cypriot side.
