Turkey Raises $541 Million Income Through Exports Of Hazelnuts

TRABZON - Turkey exported 147 thousand 167 tons of hazelnuts and obtained an income of 541 million 685 thousand 475 U.S. dollars in the 27th week of the hazelnut export season which started on September 1, 2003.
Black Sea Hazelnut and Products Exporters' Association told the A.A correspondent on Tuesday that Turkey was exporting hazelnuts to 80 countries.
They said that Turkey exported 118 thousand 343 tons of hazelnuts to the European Union (EU) countries, 15 thousand 934 tons of hazelnuts to other European countries, 8 thousand 234 tons of hazelnuts to overseas countries and 4 thousand 656 tons of hazelnuts to other countries.
In the same period of the last export season, Turkey had exported 190 thousand 660 tons of hazelnuts and obtained an income of 432 million 774 thousand 738 U.S. dollars.
