ANKARA - Turkey-the European Union (EU) Troika meeting in which Turkey's EU process will be assessed, started in Ankara on Monday.
Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul met with Foreign Minister Brian Cowen of current EU Term President Ireland, Foreign Minister Ben Bot of next EU Term President the Netherlands, and EU Commissioner Guenter Verheugen for enlargement.
EU Council Secretary General and EU Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana was also in attendance at the meeting.
Besides activities to be carried out in the coming period about Turkey's accession process to the EU, regional and international issues concerning both sides will be taken up at the meeting.
Following the joint press conference, representatives of the EU Troika will be received by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
