ANKARA - U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan's special envoy for Cyprus Alvaro De Soto came to Ankara on Friday to have meetings.
Speaking at Esenboga Airport, De Soto said that they would take up the things that could be done regarding Cyprus negotiations during his meetings in Ankara.
De Soto said that they hoped the two sides in Cyprus could reach agreement on all issues, adding that only two weeks were left and there could be difficulties due to that reason.
De Soto said that it was also a possibility for both sides not to be able to reach an agreement, pointing out to the meeting which would be held in that case by participation of Turkey and Greece.
De Soto stated that he would probably visit Athens next week and the issue regarding the level of the quartet meeting that would take place by participation of Turkey and Greece would be discussed during that visit.
De Soto will probably be received by Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul and meet with Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Ugur Ziyal today. De Soto is expected to return to the island on Saturday.
