Ankara Covers Developments Regarding Appointment Of Metropolitans, Who Are Not Turkish Citizens, To Assembly Of Fener Greek - Orthodox Patriarchate

ANKARA - Ankara closely covers the developments about the appointment of foreigners, who are not Turkish citizens, to Sen Sinod Assembly of the Fener Greek-Orthodox Patriarchate.
Diplomatic sources said news reports on the issue were examined and evaluated carefully.
Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul also said studies were underway on the issue.
News reports said metropolitans, who are not Turkish citizens, were appointed to 12-member Sen Sinod Assembly for the first time since 1923.
