ISTANBUL - Anadolu Agency (A.A) and Italian news agency (ANSA) signed on Friday a cooperation agreement and laid the foundations for a new formation namely ''ANSAMED'' which will transmit news items about issues that concern the Mediterranean basin.
A.A Director General and President of Executive Board Dr. Hilmi Bengi and ANSA Chairman Mario Rosso signed the agreement which foresaw cooperation between A.A and ANSA within the scope of ANSAMED.
The other founding partners of ANSAMED along with A.A and ANSA will be Middle East News Agency of Egypt (MENA) and Algeria Presse Service (APS). ANSAMED will transmit its news items in English.
ANSAMED, which was set up with the aim of covering local and general news about issues concerning the Mediterranean region, will be based in Naples.
In addition to covering important developments of the region, ANSAMED also targets to cover local news stories in fields of tourism, transportation, economy and culture in line with the demands of subscribers.
The two agencies aim to provide new initiatives particularly in fields of economy and tourism by ANSAMED.
