ANKARA - Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Spokesman Namik Tan has said that United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan's Special Envoy to Cyprus Alvaro de Soto would come to Turkey on Friday.
Speaking at the weekly press conference at the MFA, Tan said on Thursday, ''de Soto will hold talks with MFA Undersecretary Ugur Ziyal and MFA Cyprus Department officials. He can be received by Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul. De Soto is expected to depart from Turkey on Saturday.''
Upon a question, Tan said, ''holding political consultations with all relevant sides in the negotiation process aiming to find a fair and lasting solution to the Cyprus issue is quite natural. De Soto's scheduled visit to Turkey should be assessed under these political consultations.''
