Turkey Raises $522 Million Income Through Exports Of Hazelnuts

TRABZON - Turkey exported 142 thousand 114 tons of hazelnuts and obtained an income of 521 million 999 thousand 764 U.S. dollars in the 26th week of the hazelnut export season which started on September 1, 2003.
Black Sea Hazelnut and Products Exporters' Association told the A.A correspondent on Wednesday that Turkey was exporting hazelnuts to 80 countries.
They said that Turkey exported 114 thousand 714 tons of hazelnuts to the European Union (EU) countries, 15 thousand 83 tons of hazelnuts to other European countries, 7 thousand 913 tons of hazelnuts to overseas countries and 4 thousand 404 tons of hazelnuts to other countries.
In the same period of the last export season, Turkey had exported 185 thousand 817 tons of hazelnuts and obtained an income of 421 million 168 thousand 915 U.S. dollars.
