British Foreign Secretary Straw In Istanbul

ISTANBUL - British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw visited Istanbul Governor Muammer Guler on Wednesday.
British Ambassador to Turkey Peter Westmacott, Acting British Consul General to Istanbul David Fitton also attended the meeting which was closed to press.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Istanbul Governor Guler recalled that Straw had come to Istanbul following the bomb attacks in the city last November. He added that a memorial service would be held in British Consulate General in Istanbul today for the victims of the attack.
Guler said that they also took up touristic visits of British citizens to Turkey, adding that Straw told him that British authorities took a decision noting that British citizens' visits to Turkey were not dangerous.
Recalling that Turkish and British police organizations worked together following the explosions in Istanbul, Guler said they also discussed continuation of that cooperation in their meeting with Straw.
Guler said he also told Straw that the judiciary stage regarding the attacks started as the police finished its task.
