ANKARA - NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer arrived in Turkish capital of Ankara on Monday to hold several talks with Turkish authorities.
Scheffer who arrived in Ankara immediately after Turkey withdrew its military support to the EU under the European Security & Defense Policy (ESDP) will hold meetings with Turkish high-level officials.
He is expected to meet Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, FM & Deputy PM Abdullah Gul, Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc, National Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul and Chief of General Staff Gen. Yasar Buyukanit, on June 12th.
Scheffer paid his latest visit to Turkey on December 18th-19th, 2005.
Turkey has contributed to EU`s military operations since the beginning of 2000s. After the EU failed to meet Turkey`s expectations Ankara decided to withdraw its support.
