ISTANBUL - "Turkey has become a remarkable country which attracts foreign investments," Turkish State Minister and Chief Negotiator for EU talks Ali Babacan said on Monday.
At a news conference held after the meeting of the Turkish Investment Advisory Council held in Istanbul, Babacan noted that the country could achieve more success in its economic development through transparent, sound and resolute policies.
Babacan stated that Turkey showed a great performance during the recent years.
"We assumed active and sound attitude in regard to interior and foreign policies during the country`s EU accession process," he stressed.
Noting that inflation figure was reduced to single digits thanks to policies that Turkish government pursued, Babacan said, "flow of foreign capital into the country amounted to 20 billion USD last year. This figure became 10 billion USD in the first four months of 2007."
Babacan added that Turkey should attract more foreign investments in order to boost competitive power and the level of prosperity.
