ANKARA - The three martyred soldiers --a lieutenant colonel, a major commander and a private who were killed when a remote-control explosive planted by the terrorist organization PKK on a road in Guclukonak town in the southeastern city of Sirnak went off on Saturday-- were laid to rest after funeral ceremonies held in Aegean city of Manisa, capital Ankara and commercial hub Istanbul.
Major Armutcuoglu was buried to Cebeci Military Cemetery after the funeral prayer at Ankara`s Kocatepe Mosque with the attendance of family members, state officials, military staff and citizens.
President Ahmet Necdet Sezer, Chief Judge of the Constitutional Court Tulay Tugcu, Chief of General Staff Gen Yasar Buyukanit, Republican People`s Party (CHP) Chairman Deniz Baykal, Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul, state ministers Abdullatif Sener, Mehmet Ali Sahin, Kursad Tuzmen and Besir Atalay attended the funeral where citizens condemned and protested the terrorist organization PKK with slogans.
On the other hand martyred Lieutenant Colonel Melih Gulova was burried at Alaybey martyrdom in the Aegean city of Manisa. Speaker of the Parliament Bulent Arinc, Former Chief of General Staff Gen. Hilmi Ozkok and military staff attended the funeral. The terrorist organization PKK was condemned and protested by citizens at Gulova`s funeral as well.
Martyred Corporal Ahmet Bilgic was buried in Zile town of the northern city of Tokat with the participation of military staff.
