A Single Dimensional Approach Will Not Be Sufficient To Overcome Challenges Posed By Globalization, Basesgioglu

GENEVA - "A single dimensional approach relying on economic, social and environmental variables is not sufficient in overcoming challenges posed by globalization," said Murat Basesgioglu, Turkish Minister of Labor and Social Security, on Monday.
In a keynote speech delivered at the 96th Working Conference of the International Labor Organization (ILO) in Geneva, Switzerland, Basesgioglu indicated that the ILO must develop coherent policies with the organs of the United Nations, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
"In order to achieve sustainable growth, commercial, financial, investment and employment policies must work in harmony," told Basesgioglu.
Basesgioglu stressed that he is "pleased with ILO`s cooperation with the Republic of Turkey, especially in issues such as ending child labor, employment of the young, and employment of women."
He added that the efforts initiated by the ILO in 2004 to improve conditions in the global fishery industry which is considered to be one of the most dangerous industries to work in, should be appreciated.
