ISTANBUL - "Turkey keeps growing and developing on the basis of political and economic trust. It changes its opportunities into new and rich chances," said Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday.
Participating in the 4th Meeting of the Turkish Investment Advisory Council in Istanbul, Erdogan stressed that Turkey experienced a great development and growth process during the last couple of years.
Erdogan also noted that Turkish Investment Advisory Council had a great contribution to the reforms carried out in order to improve the investment medium.
"Thanks to our structural reforms, the Turkish economy showed a remarkable progress during the last 4.5 years. Turkish economy has been growing continuously for the last 20 quarters," Erdogan noted.
"Our country will carry on its determination aiming to gain a whole and modern democratic structure, together with all its institutions and citizens," he added.
Noting that Turkey had an average economic growth rate of 7.3 percent during the 2003-2007 period, Erdogan said private sector investments constituted 4.4 percent of such figure.
Indicating that the investments received by Turkey during the first 4 months of 2007 exceeded 10 billion USD, Erdogan said the total amount of international investments attracted by Turkey during the 2003-2007 period, was nearly 34.7 billion USD.
"Democratic stability and trust are the two basic factors that lie underneath Turkey`s success in economy," Erdogan affirmed.
Underscoring that their primary objective was to enable Turkish economy to compete in the international arena, Erdogan said, "Therefore, our determination regarding the implementation of structural reforms aiming to strengthen the economic structure, will continue increasingly and without making any concessions",
Erdogan also indicated that Turkey`s determination concerning EU adhesion process would go on.
