ANKARA - Muhsin Yazicioglu resigned Tuesday as the Grand Unity Party (BBP) chairman to run in the upcoming parliamentary elections as an independent candidate.
Yazioglu told a news conference that the BBP decided not to join the parliamentary elections scheduled to be held on July 22nd, adding, "together with my 21 friends, we will run in the parliamentary elections as independent candidates."
"Under the Election Law, independent candidates should not have any connection with any political parties. Therefore, we decided to resign from the BBP," Yazicioglu added.
