LEFKOSA - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat said on Saturday that they speeded up studies on Founding State Constitution and they would officially start adjustment activities for the European Union (EU) on Monday.
Talat said that they would send a delegation comprising of constitution professors and deputies to Turkish Parliament in the beginning of next week. He added, ''I have talked with Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc for logistic support and to use facilities of Turkish Parliament on this issue. We have received a positive answer.''
Noting that following a few day study at Turkish Parliament, the delegation would return to TRNC and speed up their activities, Talat said that the Constitution had to be prepared and presented to the United Nations until April 15.
Talat said that adjustment activities for the EU would start with the participation of Turkish side and the representatives of EU under the supervision of the United Nations on Monday.
Talat said, ''Greek Cypriot observers will attend these meetings when necessary. Our delegation is ready. We designated Ambassador Peker Turgud as the chief negotiator. But there is also EU Coordination Board at Prime Ministry. This board has been preparing for a while. We appointed a very well educated and experienced person as the leader of this board. We have reached a very good stage in studies. EU representative who will carry out talks with the Turkish side said that we were preparing faster than them. This means that we prepared our team before EU prepared and brought its experts. If there is no problem, adjustment activities with EU will start on Monday.''
