PRAGUE/ANKARA - Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan said on Saturday that he attended the Public and Private Sector Partnership Forum in Prague, Czech Republic to improve relations with EU and to explain position of Turkey prior to EU membership.
Giving information to A.A correspondent on the phone about his meetings within the scope of the Forum, Unakitan said that advantages and disadvantages of build-operate-transfer system for developing countries were discussed in the meeting.
Unakitan said that he met with Czech Finance Minister and World Bank's Vice President and he would also meet with Slovakian Finance Minister.
Noting that they exchanged views with Czech Finance Minister, Unakitan said that he got information about the experience of Czech Republic regarding the latter's pre-accession period. Unakitan said Czech Finance Minister expressed his pleasure over the important economic developments in Turkey and underlined the readiness of his country to extend support to Turkey's EU bid.
In his meeting with World Bank's Vice President, Unakitan said, they discussed recent developments and privatization activities in Turkey.
Unakitan pointed out that the subject of the Forum was also important for local administrations, adding that every year 460 billion dollars of source was necessary for infrastructure investments in the world. He said that a new study had to be made in Turkey regarding the subject of the forum.
