16 BIG BOSSES ACCEPT TO COME TO TURKEY
Central Executive Officers (CEO) of 16 leading companies of the world will meet in Istanbul and search an answer to the question of ''what we could do more in Turkey.'' The summit which is called International Investor Consultation Council meeting will be held by the support of World Bank and IMF. The aim of the summit is to draw more foreign investors to Turkey by the support of these giant companies.

MILITARY CAUTIOUS IN PRESS CONFERENCE
General Staff was very cautious during the press briefing held yesterday. The military spokesmen refrained from using words which could cause polemic in Cyprus issue and in internal politics.

WHY AZAT IS NOT INCLUDED?
The name of Azat Ekinci was not almost included in the indictment about the attacks launched in Istanbul. The indictment of Istanbul State Security Court showed that the bombs which were used in the attacks in Istanbul were carried by the wives of members of the organization. The name of Azat Ekinci, who was one of the key names of attacks, was mentioned only in one part of the indictment.

'SENSITIVITY' LETTER
General Staff said that their sensitivity was continuing about Cyprus issue and they had presented necessary suggestions and pretexts for Annan Plan to Prime Ministry on February 15. General Plans and Principles Chairman Gen. Aydogan Babaoglu said that the sensitivity of Turkish Armed Forces on Cyprus issue was continuing and added that they had evaluated that it was necessary to avoid of statements that could affect the negotiation process.

CHOOSE PROFESSION AT HIGH SCHOOL
National Education Ministry started the project which will increase compulsory education to 12 years as it happened in the European Union (EU) countries. Schools, except police colleges and military high schools, will be connected to ministry and gathered under the name of general and professional high schools. Under the project, those who complete the 8th grade, will be directed either to general or vocational high schools according to their success level and tendency.

CYPRUS RECORD OF GENERAL STAFF
General Staff Secretary General Sabri Demirezen said that General Staff was preserving its views on Cyprus issue. He stressed that this was conveyed to the government with a letter on February 15.

TURKISH SOLDIERS CAN STAY IN NORTH OF IRAQ
Ankara which sent a delegation composed of diplomats and soldiers to Iraq in the latter's formation stage of Iraqi Interim Administration Law, got the impression that the state to be founded there could be formed on the basis of ''administrative federation.'' Turkey warned that this state structure should not include elements which could cause separation in the future. The U.S. told Turkey that it could not fight with terrorist organization PKK due to security problem. Ankara in its part stressed that as long as PKK continued its existence in north of Iraq, it was not possible for Turkish soldiers to withdraw from the region.

DENKTAS:GREEK CYPRIOTS STALL NEGOTIATION PROCESS
The tactic of Greek Cypriot leader Tassos Papadopoulos who tries to stall the negotiation process in order to gain time until May 1 continues. During their meeting with Denktas yesterday, Papadopoulos brought a new condition. Papadopoulos who wanted the laws foreseen by Annan plan to be prepared before holding the referendum, said that if this was not the case, no referendum would be held. TRNC President Denktas accused Papadopoulos of avoiding a solution and referendum.

ANOTHER STEP FOR RULE OF LAW
According to the decision of Council of State, police will not perform a search on people, their properties, vehicles and houses without decision of the judge or prosecutor. So Council of State also contributed to the efforts launched to adjust Turkish laws with those of EU. The tenth department of the Council of State concluded that two articles of the regulation dated May, 2003 which authorized police to search somebody with his consent but without judge or prosecutor warrant, were against the Constitution. The department said that the regulation could cause violation of basic rights and freedoms.

DENKTAS:NO PROGRESS IN TALKS
No progress was recorded in the second week of the negotiations that continue in Lefkosa. TRNC President Rauf Denktas said after his meeting with Greek Cypriot leader Tassos Papadopoulos yesterday that progress was not happening at the desired rate, adding ''Papadopoulos stalls the process.''

SOLVE CYPRUS ISSUE
Businessman Sakip Sabanci said that Cyprus issue which was the biggest obstacle before the European Union (EU) path should certainly be solved this year. He said, ''I support all steps that the government takes about Cyprus issue. Because they know this is a condition for 'Big Turkey'. The south of Cyprus, Romania and Poland will join EU, but Turkey which has a population of more than 70 million cannot enter. This is not fair.''

GUL: WE ARE DISCOVERING EACH OTHER WITH RUSSIA
Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul who met with Russian President Vladimir Putin said, ''Putin did not receive even Prime Ministers of Turkey in the past. This meeting is an important beginning. We have taken up every issue honestly. I can say that Turkey and Russia are discovering each other again.''

GREEK SIDE ASKS FOR 'IMPOSSIBLE'
Greek Cypriot side which continues its tactic of stalling the negotiation process rejected all the proposals of Turkish side and put forth a very heavy 'additional condition' to Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Greek Cypriot leader Tassos Papadopoulos said that they would not hold referendum if 114 laws about European Union acquisition were not approved by Turkish side before the referendum.

JUST SOLUTION SUPPORT FROM GENERAL STAFF
General Staff Secretary General Sabri Demirezen said that Turkish Armed Forces has always supported finding a permanent and just solution to Cyprus question.
