ANKARA - European Parliament President Pat Cox will pay a visit to Turkey between March 1-4 as the official guest of Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc.
Parliamentary Press and Public Relations Directorate said on Friday that Pat Cox's visit to Turkey would start on March 1. Cox will have a meeting with Arinc and hold a press conference on Monday. Parliament Speaker Arinc will host a dinner in honor of Cox.
On Tuesday, Pat Cox will meet with Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul. Following a luncheon hosted by Parliamentary Commission for Adjustment with European Union (EU) Chairman Yasar Yakis, European Parliament President Cox will meet with Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal.
President Ahmet Necdet Sezer will receive Cox at Presidential Palace on Tuesday. After his meeting with Sezer, Cox will address deputies at the Parliamentary General Assembly.
Cox will meet with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan the same day. Following the meeting, he will proceed to Istanbul.
European Parliament President Cox will proceed to Canakkale province on Wednesday and visit Anzac Bay and monuments erected to the memories of British, French, New Zealander and Turkish soldiers who died in the Battle of Dardanelles.
Cox will return back to Istanbul and attend a luncheon hosted by Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen Association (TUSIAD) in his honor at Ciragan Palace.
Pat Cox will deliver a speech at a conference, ''The Future of European Union (EU) and Turkey'' organized by Economic Development Foundation (IKV).
Cox will depart from Turkey on March 4.
